Driving or Cementing Posts for Chain Link Fencing

When it comes to installing a chain-link fence, the method of setting the posts can make a significant difference in the fence's durability and stability.

Driving posts involves using a post driver to hammer the posts directly into the ground. This method is faster and more straightforward, making it suitable for temporary fences or areas with softer soil. However, it may not provide as much long-term stability compared to cementing.

Cementing posts involves digging holes for the posts and filling them with concrete to secure the posts firmly in place. While this method takes more time and effort initially, it results in a more robust and long-lasting fence, especially in areas with challenging soil conditions or high winds.

At Sterling Fence, cementing posts is our standard practice and this ensures greater longevity for our customers’ chain link fencing.
